ECD 142: Building Blocks of Early Care - I

In this course, students will learn the basic components of early care and education. Students will learn theories of child development and their influence on teaching practices. Students will identify developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education in the Child Development Associate (CDA) functional areas of safety, health, and learning environment. Students will write competency statements that meet the national CDA standards and compile resources into a professional portfolio. This is the first of three courses that are required for national CDA Certification. Level I Prerequisite: Academic Reading and Writing Levels of 6
