HST 235: African History

In this course, students will survey the historical development of African societies, cultures, and institutions, with an emphasis on the 13th century to the present. The effects of Christianity, Islam, the slave trade, and colonialism on the African continent will also be addressed. Emphasis will also be placed on the process of decolonization and industrialization of modern Africa. Level I Prerequisite: Academic Reading and Writing Levels of 6
